In the next 5 years, we will be to expanding our equine services into a neighboring building, providing a permanent home for the CAM Equine Hospital. If you have brought horses to the clinic in the past, you can see by the photos below that we'll be gaining much more room. In the last several years, we have been struggling with parking for trailers and room to work on more than one patient at a time. The current examination room will continue to be used, but will be limited to procedures dealing with contagious diseases such as Pigeon Fever or Strangles. The "no back" principle of trailing, that many folks enjoy, will also be figured into this expansion, with an even larger area to manuever the larger, longer trailers.
Starting at the top left, this will be the main pedestrian entrance to the facility with ample vehicle parking up front. Trailer parking and the unloading/loading area can be seen in the top right image. Trailers will enter between the main clinic and the new building moving in a counterclockwise fashion exiting to the street in front.
The middle left image shows what will be the examination area, approximately 4x's larger than our current room. We'll have areas devoted to dentistry, radiography and ultrasound, a large animal scale and the addition of an induction/recovery room and surgical suite. The middle right image will be converted to an indoor stall for post surgical recovery and management of medical cases that require a controlled environment such as colic. Since being at the clinic, one of our greatest challenges has been to manage colic horse requiring IV fluids when it's belowing freezing outside. 2 additional stalls will also be added.
The bottom left room pictured will be converted into a doctors office/consultation room and a technician station. The tech station will have direct access and visualization of the hospital stalls. The right room pictured will be converted into the surgical suite.
